And last some beamshots (I do not really have a good place for them):

All beamshoot was done with Eneloop batteries in the flashlights.

In a bounce test they was nearly equal in power.

The Aurora was drawing about 1A from the eneloop.

Edit:
My current measure was wrong, using another meter I get 1.3A and using a current clamp I get between 1.3A and 2A, RMS 1.6A. It looks like it is very depend on the source resistance. The switching frequency is 100KHz, i.e. no noise or pwm flicker.

Thanks for the review, still waiting for mine to arive. From the photos it seems like the pill section is not very neat. Another Q, what are your views on the threads and overall quality?

Great pictures!!

I have a lot of the lights in your size comparision picture and they are all very nice lights.

One comment - your Aurora R2 head's bottom (the part that contacts the AAA battery + terminal), it shows very sloppy epoxy content on it. Is that the way it came or did you add lubricant or something to it?

The Aurora R2 lights I have both are very clean at the light head AAA+ contact points.

The threads are very smooth, but that is because they are a bit lose.
Generally the quality looks ok and for the price and with this high output, I believe that the quality is good.

It is exactly the way the light came, I have neither cleaned or lubed it.

But I do not believe that there is any epoxy, there are some sort of lube and lots of solder.

Interesting, the couple I received are absolutely clean without any debris / excess lube / solder.

Sorry for the bad pictures.

There are no artifacts or anything, the flash is just illuminating all the minute scratches on the surface.

Oh and here are my AAA lights. Sorry for the bad picture, I'm a photo novice.

Mine's slightly different too! There's a neat outer ring, but with the silver dome also.

The o-ring at the head felt too thin. Replacing with a thicker one made the twisting less sloppy, but slightly more awkward one handed operation.

So from what i'm reading this head will fit on the LD01 so i'll assume it will also fit the MicroStream?????
