AW Softstart 3 level Incandescent Driver Switch For SF P - C - M series Tailcaps

Ok so I've been away for a while and last night I got on light hound and saw this 3 level incandescent driver. light hounds decription doesn't talk about the user interface much... so how does it work? What does it do with a P60 and two primary batteries? How about a strion bulb and a AW protected 18650?

Thanks for any info!

you wont "NEED" it for those combos but you could use it. It would give you a low, med, high, and strobe. It works with a click of an electrical switch, if you have never used one. It is more for the other bulbs out such as, WA 1111, WA 1185, FM1794, FM1909, with the proper battery combo. These ones require the soft start function more so.

Yea I wasn't so interested in the soft start as much as the 3 level. It would be nice to have my P60 or Strion bulb have a low level to extend battery life and reduce heat.

So is the UI just... click low click med click high clich strobe click off...

Strobe is hidden, you need to press and hold the switch to get it into strobe mode.

These are great switches, I use mine with a strion bulb and 16430 or 18650 as well as the 1185 & FM1794.

I have them installed in my FM1909 and WA1111 lights, they are fantastic! The cool thing is that you can install version B in a SW01

You're close, the UI is:

click low (30%)-> click med (60%) -> click high (100%) - click and hold (1 sec) -> off

From off, click and hold 2 sec -> strobe -> press and hold 2 sec -> off

BTW, there is no "click" or tactical feedback on this switch. To me, this is a valuable addition to any incan light. I use it in the tailcap of my 9P (Leefbody) since I have multiple drop-ins and battery configs I can use with it. It makes any incan setup much more versatile.

Thank you so if you click low click med and then want it off do have to click high then click off? I realise you say there's no click but I dont know how else to verbalise it.:)

Mike- It has memeory so it starts in the last setting. Simply hold the button and it shuts down. One thing I want to add is that the button is very sensitive.

Thanks

Yep - so you can press-hold (1 sec) at any level to turn it back off. The light will turn back on at the last used setting as GunSmoke said.

I would refer to the "click" as a "press" on this switch. As GS says the pressure needed to activate is low in this switch, so you wouldn't want to carry it in your pocket with the switch down.

Ok thanks guys... It doesn't sound like something that would work for me. Are there any other drop in type switchs like this for an incan (preferably Surefire E series or P series) to give multiple levels? Really just looking for low high I really like the UI on the E1B but it's just not an incan...

Mike- No, the AW Sofstart is it at the moment. As an FYI you can turn it off in Low and with a simple press-press your in High. It really is an amazing switch for the Incan.

Good Luck

Good luck with finding anything besides the AW switch to give you instant levels in an incan. I think this AW switch is the best thing since sliced bread. I have one in my Leef/C2 and one in each of my mag mods. The utility of each of these lights would be a fraction of what they currently are with the AW switch. One of the biggest downsides of an incan - bulb burnout - is drastically improved with this switch, and now you can simply choose the amount of runtime and light you need for any planned or unforseen event with the press of a switch...

I installed a AW Softstart switch (version A) in a Z58 this afternoon. I boiled the cap in a baggie for 5 minutes, then used a snap-ring plyers inserted into two of the holes on top of the switch and turned. The top unscrewed and came off without much resistance and the rest was easy. I'm using the softstart switch with a Lumens Factory EO-4 with one 17670 rechargeable. It works nicely for my purposes.
