My 6P had an ugly beam out of the box, putting out some super distracting rings on about half the beam.

I called Surefire, asking if I could have another lamp sent or if I could exchange mine since the beam was downright distracting. The CS rep asked if I had ever dropped the light, which I hadn't.

He then asked me for my address. :)

That was Thursday afternoon, my 6P has a pretty beam today, on Tuesday.

Perhaps best of all, they used starch based packing peanuts, thank you for not filling my garbage can with packaging crap!

Admittedly, I chewed one up when I suspected that they were starch based.

I did however spit it out in the sink.
Well, it's good to know that Surefire is concerned with a customer's happiness (an excellent flashlight) and well-being (extra nutrition in the box).

Enjoy your 6P!

Quick survival carbs! Definitely a good thing, I have a lot of work to do buying CR123 batteries. :sssh:

You guys do know they remove all the sugar and nutrients from the packing peanuts so that it won't attract bugs or hungry postal workers.

I could not agree more with the OP. I debated (and even stood in the store doing online research on my phone!) before buying my original 6P LED. It was a lot of money for a 'flashlight' (they're not kidding when they call them illumination tools), but wow was it worth it.

Then, about a year later, I started to notice that its output was dimmer than I had remembered. This continued for a while, until I finally did a side-by-side with the 3W LED 3-D Mag, which used to be comparable. The Mag with weak batteries blew away the 6PL. Huh???

Called SF and explained issue. One question asked: does the LED look dark in the middle? Why, yes, it does. OK, here's your RMA #, it's a warranty fix. Sweet! Sent it in, and got it back with a new LED module (apparently the new 120 lumen version, since the original was 80, and it's brighter than ever). No cost other than shipping to them. Very impressive!

The only problem was the withdrawal while waiting for ground shipping both ways across the country, as well as the repair. Solution? Ordered a Malkoff M61 (which was amazingly in stock at that time), and as soon as that arrived, I bought a 6P Defender locally as a host for it. That's how much SF impressed me! Now the original 6P is my secondary/loaner light, and still works flawlessly.

The price was still right..

Funny, sounds like a known problem, I'm surprised they still made you send it in. But the real question is...What flavor was the packaging??

The pride of ownership and customer service make the extra cost worth it two times over with a Surefire!

I can attest to Surefire's excellent warranty/customer service. I called because my tailcap on my 6PL was going out and they sent me a new one no questions asked.

Surefire customer services

Just wanted to say how great SF customer services have been. The switch on my trusty U2 stopped working so I contacted their international operation via email (I'm in the UK) and stated my problem. Only a few hours later I got an email saying they wanted my address. I gave that and they replied a few hours later to say two switches were in the post from the US to the UK. No quibble, no sending it off for repair, waiting 8 months and them saying it wasn't their problem.

What a great company. It doesn't bother me when the odd thing goes wrong when the company repair / replace it with no inconvenience.

Legends. :twothumbs
