AW\'s 1/2N sized -Li-Ion cells

I just received 2 of the new 1/2N (120mAh) Li-Ions from from AW. I am very happy to report that they will fit anywhere that 3 X LR44/357/76/AG13 will fit. The diameter of the cell is just right. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I tried just one 3.6V cell in my Streamlight Keymate (w/26K 5mm transplant), and it works great!
The same thing goes for the Pelican L1.

Thanks AW, and a big cheer to 'ya. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: AW\'s Mini-Li-Ion cells

Do you need an specific charger? I can't find any announce from AW..

Re: AW\'s Mini-Li-Ion cells

I made the same consideration before buying these cells.
It's still a little controversial about charging currents, but if you don't mind charging at about 2C -you should be OK. -Some people here won't do it, some will. (The charger in question would start out with a charging current of about 250mA, and taper down as the cells charge up. I tried that and noticed only a very slight warming of the cells.....

I also happen to have an old home-built voltage and current adjustable charger from the 80s, so I can even charge up the Nimh 357/76/AG-13 button cells-using 5mA up to 150mA.

I think both chargers work at about the same safety level...but that's just an educated guess on my part.

Re: AW\'s Mini-Li-Ion cells

These 1/2 N LiIon batteries are currently out and should be available again around June/July. I still haven't found any appropriate charger that has a 60 - 120mA charging current. I am charging them using a bench power supply by setting a CC of 60mA. When the voltage reaches 4.2V, I disconnect it from the power and should get a full charge. Charging them with a 2C rate may shorten the life/cycle of the battery.

Re: AW\'s Mini-Li-Ion cells

I 'll post the details when they become available.
I have been told by fellow member dj that his charger Here may work for this 1/2N cell by selecting appropiate resistors and can be set from 1mA to 800mA.

Re: AW\'s Mini-Li-Ion cells

AW:

I have a link at home right now to a site that sells chargers, etc. for RC stuff and they have a charger meant for small Li-Ion packs used on tiny RC cars. It uses a jumper system to set the current. If I remember correctly, it goes down to 10 or 20ma.

I'll post the link later today.

EDIT: Here's the link: Li Charger

Seems like that link don't work! Search for item LIPOCH103.
