Hi guys,

Well it's been some time since I've been here at CPF.

I sort of slowed my light purchases as my immediate flashlight needs have been largely satisfied.

With the increasing cost of living, the family finances have been under some strain but I'm still using and enjoying some of my decades old lights that are all still performing like new.

My VME Valiant Concepts 2AA and CR123 bodies are still rocking the early M31W (neutral tint) Malkoff drop in.

My early Surefire 6P with a M61W Malkoff still sees regular use too.

My early Prometheus 18650 MC-E warm tint is my most used light though seeing around 1-2 hours of use daily/nightly. The beam quality of this light is unmatched. It's been used and abused and still performs as well as it did when new.

I'm always looking at the new lights with their superior outputs but reliability wise, I just don't think there's much out there more dependable than my stable of old warhorses.

James….😉

Nice lights no need to buy new ones. What I really like is a light with really low lumens output which I don't think you have? In a completely dark house 1 lumen is enough to navigate and find things. Newer led also have higher CRI if that's important for you.

Ya maybe a night time light. Something with a warm and soft beam that has very low modes. Like a wurkkos ts10. Small 14500 light and is much below a lumen. Perfect for avoiding the pooches in the middle of the night when you need the bathroom, but easy on your eyes. In lockout mode, holding on the button gives you the very lowest output it can produce. And it's momentary.

agree!

TS10 is a great light for the middle of the night.
With the Red Aux on low, it is easy to see where it is on a dark nightstand.

iirc, the default lowest mode is 0.2 lumens.

they are being discontinued and are sold out in Anodized 4000K on the Wurkkos site already.. (they still have the MAO White Ceramic that I favor, but it costs extra, a bit over $30 after tariff and shipping)

Aliexpress still has a few Anodized 4000K left at about $25 after tariff.

an even better deal is the TS10SG, which has a very throwy cool white LED, on sale on Amazon USA, (no tariff nor shipping, just tax) and it comes w a USB battery, which makes it a turnkey package for under $20

Here is the difference:

Thanks Jon. Yeah my set up is not able to reliably measure at super low outputs, and won't measure anything below about 2 lm.
That's too bad they're discontinuing it. It's a helpful little light. While the new SG looks really good, it hardly is a suitable replacement. Not that it's in any way worse, it's just not really for the same use. It's not just a low output that I like about the TS 10 in the middle of the night, but the super floody nature of the beam, and its warmth. I think you lose a lot of that with a throwy setup and cooler temp. Though I believe it's better in every other case. Lol. So it's definitely a fair trade off

Methinks you should swap the guts and have a fancy SG MAO...

nice idea ;-)
doable with 2 new holes drilled in the V2 shelf
because the SG driver wires dont come thru the middle of the mcpcb, the way they do on the V2 triple..

btw, I found the best price for a TS10 V2 4000K is from the Wurkkos USA warehouse, there is a coupon on that webpage that brings the price down to $19

the best price for the TS10SG is from Amazon USA, with the 45% coupon on that webpage it comes out to about $17 after my state tax of 10%.. ymmv
