I am wanting to buy one of these for my mini-m*g. Could someone compare these two drop-ins? I want to know mainly brightness and run-time. Also, does anyone know the difference between the regular madmax and the madmax plus? Thanks.

MadMax is the Brightest initially, with good brightness over the life of the batteries, and will last longer than the BB since it drains the batteries more. The BB series are about as bright as a MM after about 1/2 hour, but keep that brightness over the entire life of the batteries. That's about the best I can do right now, hope it helps! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You can also:

Get a BadBoy 500 and a Q3L emitter and put it into the BB. Then you'll have a BB500 with Q3L! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks, I might just do that. Do you know how hard it would be? I don't have the nimblest fingers...

It's a little tricky, involves some pinpoint soldering. Wayne's got some Q3L emitters you can buy from his site, I believe (well, if he hasn't run out yet)... You'll have to cut the 2 pos/neg tabs on the LS of the BB500, and do a simple swap and resolder the Q3L's contacts back in... You'll have to pry off the LS first, and you'll need some thermal epoxy (like Arctic Silver/Alumina) to apply to the bottom of the Q3L for better heat transfer to the sandwich base...

From the looks of it, the trickiest part would be to connect the pos/neg tabs to the base of the sandwich...
