I got a Badboy 1000 to play with to run on 2 NiMH subC cells and the badboy seems to get fairly hot. Not hot enough to burn you but warm enough you don't want to hold if for more than 3-5 seconds. I checked the current draw and it was 1.9A. Is this what I should be seeing?

The IC used on the BB, the LT1618, is specified to have a current limit of 1.5A to 2.8A. What you are seeing is within the normal range. Considering your power source and the 1000mA set current, what you are seeing seems reasonable.
