I'm ready to do several Mag mods including a 5*Cree 1200 lumen drop-in from DX, one of those budget shower head drop-ins that is getting such good reviews and either a ROP or Mag 85. I've started building 6AA>2D holders (for the drop-ins) and 9AA>3D holders (for the incan build).

I have a few Duraloops that are being used for various household items and a cheap charger, but don't have any for use in lights. I also have a Shekor charger for my RCR123's which is very slow at charging 18650's, of which I only have one that is in a DX light.

Should I get some Eneloops (or Duraloops) and say a Maha C9000 charger or get some protected 18650's and a Pila charger?

I'm trying to weigh the benefits of: (a) initial cost of batteries and charger (b) the easiest charging process (due the quantity of batteries being used) and (c) the best run-time.

I know you can also run larger Li-ions than 18650 as well as larger NiMH batteries but I'm guessing these would take alternate charger options than those I listed above (although I don't know if using magnets with leads off the appropriate charger to a auxiliary battery holder would be possible?)

I just read a thread that mentioned the Turnigy Accucel-6 hobby charger. I'm thinking this may be the way to go since it will do NiMH and Li-ions. Then I could make some battery cradles for whatever battery type I decide.

If anyone else has input on this subject I would appreciate it.

I made some comments about charging with the Accucell 6 here which may be helpful, (if it's not from the thread you already read).
