This adapter is a new one on me but looks useful. I have ordered some but will have to wait and see how well they work. Reportedly they work in parallel and in series so they could be used just as adapters for recharge ables or to give a little boost over normal voltage.

I was looking at these also... double the runtime compared to 1AA adapters if they are built well enough. I wish they made large versions of the 3AAA adapters in parallel that took 3AAs.

you can even get 4 AA cells into the space of 1 D cell (at least in a mag it works)
so these adapters are only half of what could be used

Yes that's true, of course to use some 4aa adapter you need to have the body bored, with these you avoid that. The thing about these is they would fit without mod is anything using a d cell. Maybe just to run a couple of rechargeable aa's for extended run time. It would give a good boost to a light without making any change but the bulb.
