Battery ignorance….

If you want a high quality, but basic, and very inexpensive DMM, I recommend Extech. That's what I use 'at home'. I think they start here, and go up in function / price from there. This would meet your needs cheap, with some quality, and a good U.S. company behind it who really knows electronic test equipment and has a track record:

Top battery doesn't say but other two say it on the case.

Top one appears to be Lithium Ion (21700). I would definitely make sure to note which batteries are what and keep all your Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) cells together. Also helpful to know the purchase date (ideally a manufacturing date, but not always listed on the batteries) so you can keep track of how old they are.

Looks like those multimeters are made in Hong Kong or Taiwan.
