hi all
im using 8 AA batterys in a wired holder thats in series which i take out to charge them. as they are in series can i use a smart charger or would there be a charging problem all so how can i seal the pack other than shrink rapping them.
cheers thwang

Only if all 8 cells are the same should you charge them in series.

Something i learned from an other member here, is that you should slow charge the pack (after discharging) at first at one tenth of the total capacity of the pack, like a 2500mAh pack should be charged at 250ma.

That apparently balances the cells, and then you can use higher charge rates. But you need to make sure your wire holder doesn't heat up too much at higher rates. I personally would like to charge my 14.4 3.4Ah pack over night. every night.

I agree with what the previous post said. Don't charge the batteries individually or they won't top out full charge the same. Charge them in series and make sure the charger you use can handle the amount of cells you want to charge. 8 cells is pretty easy to find a reasonably priced charger, probably about $85. Check the hobby shops. Those guys know good chargers like Astroflight from charging packs used in electric flight.
