I have an 18650 which no longer works for the following reason: the spring from my u2 that i no longer own dug into the end of it, so now there is a circular shape cut into the back. Every point within that circle can not be the point where the tailcap spring touches. So basically, if i complete the circuit using a paper clip, one end touches the battery tube and the other end can not touch within the circle, as it wont complete the circuit.

HELP

a protected battery ?
and your spring rubbed off the thin conductive layer on the protection pcb?

solder it?
send it back for a replacment?

Hi cheapo
If possible take a close look at the spring. Is the little coil end sticking
out, making a sharp point that scratches the battery as the tail cap is screwed in????
Try correcting this by bending it away from the battery with needlenose
pliers....so just smoothe wire rubs the battery

goodluck!

"spring rubbed off the thin conductive layer on the protection pcb?"

-this is exactly what happened. I think i bought it at batteryjunction, but either way, i doubt there is any warranty on batteries, considering how long i've had it.

I soldered it for the time being but the solder doesn't hold so well, and will eventually fall off.

The spring was fine. The battery only had a thin conductive coating, the rest of the metal on the back of the battery isn't conductive. So yeah, not very well manufactured i guess. Otherwise, they are good batts though.
