Ugh, you guys are killing me. Hawaiian Drive Inn? How come I never heard of this place before? If only it was a little closer to San Carlos. Then again, it is probably fortunate for my waistline that it is not so convenient.

kubolaw, there is one on ElCamino in Redwood City (at least there used to be.) I have not been there for a while, but it might be worth checking the phone book to see if they are still there (kinda funny they are not listed on the website.) I think that was like the second one to open in the bay area and was the 1st one I ate at.

Kubolaw, it looks like the Redwood City one is not there any longer. I tried calling them and the number was disconnected /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif The SSF would be the next closest. It is right down the street from Tanforan shopping center, so at least it would only be about a 20 min drive from San Carlos if you get the craving /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now back to the regularly scheduled program, here is the sign up for food. So far, I have:

Thanks to Gadget_lover's post, I just discovered this forum. If you've got room for one more I'ld like to come. I'll bring the currently most talked about light (in the last week anyway) on CPF. If you've got room, could someone please send me an address and the last decided on meeting time. As far as food, Ill take a seafood combo with Teriyaki Steak.

I just went by a football field about a mile from my house and there was a sign posted that it officially closes at 10pm. If we feel the need to do some long range beam tests, it gets pretty dark up there, so we have that as an option now.

I've never been to a FA (flashaholics anonymous) meeting before. What should I bring in the way of toys. You mentioned big guns. I think I can handle that. Besides "THE" light, what else. I can keep it down to a manageable level if I stick with the current favorites, the one-of-a-kind's, and the really unique. I may be a newbie to this forum, but I'm no newbie to lights.

I never knew there were others of my kind around - it will be nice to meet you. Has any of you been able to identify the mother planet, or are you, like me, still looking.

Should I bring my wagon to haul the toys someplace that we have to hike to - we're talking a little weight for the big guns.

Our get togethers are mostly just an informal gathering to see what cool lights everyone has. The last time we were limited to my backyard and the 1mcp lights were a bit overkill, so I figured I would scope out someplace larger incase we need it. There is ample parking right at the gate so I don't thing a wagon will be required, although to each his own. I don't know for sure that we will even make it to the field, so if something is too cumbersome, don't plan on being able to use it. As far as what lights you should bring, I would say whatever your favorites to show off and what you think will get the most wow factor. Assuming that you are not bringing vehile mounted or towed lights, I have plenty of room for whatever you bring.

Okay, gotch ya. I'll leave the towed light I ripped off from a used car lot opening at home, but the vehicle mounted ones are too much of a hassle to take off.

I suspect that I can bring more lights than I will have time to show. Should we assign structure or limits to the "show and tell" portion of this meet?

I am still pretty new to trying to organize this meet stuff, so I'll leave it up to the masses. Since it does not get really dark until about 8:30-9pm now we should have plenty of time to talk and show off before the light show begins. Don, whatever you bring, I am sure we'll all be drooling, both your "friend's" lights as well as your own are amazing (although I am much more partial to yours, since they tend to be more unique.)

Gents,

Some of you I have met, others I haven't. If there are going to be some tools displayed at the meet that shoot something other than photons, I'd like to know ahead of time. Thanks.

Don don't worry, it is not that kind of thing, just another hobby that I thought Jim might be interested in. Think more along the lines of replicas rather than firearms. I showed them to the others at the last meet along with my work shop and some of my remote control cars and I don't think there were any objections. Please email me for pics/vids/explanations of my other hobbies if you are interested or just need peace of mind, but wouldn't want to spoil the supprise for Jim because I think he will get a kick out from a hobby aspect. Please believe me when I say that I would not want to make anyone feel uncomfortable in my home. I consider it an honor to host the get-togethers and want everyone to have a good time.

BTW JimH, I am sure that your comment was made in jest, but just to cover my own butt, please no real fire arms/ammuntion. I would prefer we save that for the range.
