I took couple of beamshots comparing the Amondotech Illuminator 35W HID to a LK14 type 600W halogen light. The Illuminator is an awesome light and very bright but the LK14 is just something else, the bomb, haha.:)

Exposure was set to 3 seconds. These pictures are only meant to give fair comparison between these two lights. They don't show the realworld brightness totally right.

Location for first shots. Distance to forest is 130m. Totally unretouched photos.

The Amondotech Illuminator 35W HID

The LK14

Extra beamshot with just LK14. Here distance to the other side of the harbour is over 1km. The area that is illuminated is just dark forest. Any light coloured object would have appeared well lit. Here gamma was upped 30%.

Thanks for the fun beamshots. I especially like your method for documenting the distance to the target.

The HID beamshot looks about like what I have seen with my USL and 2.5 inch fivemega "Throwmaster" head. The LK14 is in a different league entirely...

I had to search that USL. Haven't even heard of such light. I quess I am so new here still. Yes something like 120W halogen would be about the same as 35W HID I think.

When I look at those pictures now I think 4-5 seconds exposure would have propably given more realistic brightness, and closer to what it looked like with naked eye, now the HID appears bit too dim.
