It appears you set an some flying creature on fire in that last photo. Nice pics and comparison of the combination's possible with LEDs.

Can you tell me more about the Tesco AA torch? I like the floody light it puts off (the first one is too tight of a spot light).

Do you have a photo or link for the Tesco AA? Thanks.

Hi fightnut

Yes it is just a 3 watt cree torch only available in store at tescos for £10
it has gone down well with the biking mob in the uk for helmet lights

Big new Tesco opened today just down the road from me. I will have to go looking for some of them, I don't have a decent hand tourch and that C looks nice for £12. If ever my MCE's turn up I may be able to liberate an R2 for it...

Bottom shots 17 led? Need to re-work the standard camera settings for that sort of thing...

Yes ifor it is not bad for £12 throws a spot a long way
would be ace with an R2 in

re camera yes I know I left it at the same setting for a comparison
and it did look like that in real life as there was some mist starting to form

hi,

Just wondering , do you ride on bike paths at night where another cyclist is riding towards you at close proximity. Do you blind the rider, or have to turn some of the lights off to not blind them?

My use would be mainly bike paths, as when road riding at night under street lights I really just need lights for cars and others to see me. Your setup looks impressive but would like to know if you're a 'menace' to other bike riders?

I would like a bike light system similar to that of cars or motorbikes, Low beam doesn't blind oncoming riders, but you've also got high beam to turn night into day.

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

DIY Easy @ 1200Ma is this a self built light in which case could you give me some details.

Where in the UK is good for ordering components to make up a bike light.

I have a Tesco 3 watt AA lamp that I intend to use helmet mounted but I need a better flood light to mount on the handle bars.

Does this forum have a section where people share their specific designs for those that are very capable of putting parts and electronics together but don't fully understand the design stage.

Thanks

Ben.

Trout, thanks for beamshots and pics of the lights. How is the runtime on the Tescos AA light and is it direct drive or regulated?

Thanks

BTW. What on earth is that light in the sky in the last photo?

Evening nightshade,
I dont use them all at once just wanted beam shots of the various combinations I had built
and then all at once just for the laugh.

They are all diy lights except the tesco torches.

no where in the uk is any good for diy stuff
mostly cutters in oz and the market place here.

yes this forum you just have to search also over here

lots of very helpfull people on both forums
and I can make you a housing if you need one

it seems to have been a moth flying by
it was a 6 second exposure.

I dont know the runtime for the tesco AA torch but on checking it has some sort of curcuit board inside and the led forward voltage was 3.23 volts

All the photos of these lights and others I have attempted to build are here

These torches are reduced by £2 each, £8 for the AA and £10 for the C cell. think the D was reduced too. I managed to resist wasnt sure how good they were.

I wonder what the head of the Tescos C and D cell lights would be like for modifying, might be a cheap way to get a half decent housing for a 3 or 4 LED lamp.

great pics.

what are the specs of the AA and C cell crees's are you able to let us know how many batteries or volts are needed for the tesco C and AA, watts and mA
