Best AA/AAA you own.

I like AAA lights a lot. Small size and the new emitters have nice tint and are fairly efficient. In fact, I have a bit of a problem with AAA lights. But my favorite is the Tain Ottavino AAA. Ti, beautiful knurling, neutral emitter, 1 trit on the tail. The ui is great. Tight for off - this makes it secure. Loosen to L and keep loosening to H. It is small and good looking enough for the office. Runs on an Eneloop, so good runtime. Always in my pocket and it replaced a Peak Eiger 10180 with Nichia 219 mule from Oveready.

My favorite AA is the L3 Illumination L10 with the Nichia 219. Reasonable price, small and nice beam/tint. I have the White, which is paint rather than anodized. Lots of chips. A nice light to throw in a coat pocket or backpack. I run it with a li-ion cell for more output. Gets hot on high and is a good output on M. Good runtime, beam/tint and value.

Stop cheating one choice only in AA and one in AAA. ;)

I think 2xAA is more different to 1xAA than 1xAA is to 1xAAA, so it should be either one per form factor, or 1 cell only, full stop. Otherwise the original question is essentially "what is the best light" with no criteria other than "no CR123 or 18650s!"

My AA collection is not great, and AAA non-existent. Photo below shows my AA lights, plus one interloper, along with an AW14500 battery. Two lights that take AA or CR-123's are on the left: JetBeam RRT-0 in its AA configuration, and Nitecore SRT3 in its CR-123 configuration. These two lights are roughly comparable in size (SRT just a hair longer and thicker), so the photo really illustrates why I tend to use them in their CR-123 form. Brass light is a Peak El Capitan, and black light on the right is an L3 Illumination L10.

Middle light is the Zebralight SC62d -- an 18650 :) I include it to show that, of my lights at least, only the L3 is diminutive enough to justify its use as an EDC over one of my newer/smaller 18650 lights. The Peak might be my favorite AA, but my best is the L3.

The L10 is a fantastic light, but I don't EDC it much becuase the clip isn't trustworthy. And alone in my pocket I find it always turning sideways which is very annoying.

3AAA Eagletac GX25A3 Pros: great max output. Cons: big cap between 1st and 2nd mode level, no really low level
2AA Olight S15 (as I just mentioned in your previous thread). Pros: modes, price, quality, runtime, max output. Cons: tint. Sidenode: 2AA Fenix HL30 headlamp is great if you're looking for 2AA powered headlamp.
1AA I have only Olight i2 and I cannot compare it to anything. Build quality feels good though, 3 modes and good runtime/lm.

Wait. . . The Olight S15 can be configured as a 1xAA or a 2xAA or a 3XAA

So why isn't it your favorite in all 3 of those categories?

AA: Fenix E12 (my review)

AAA: Thrunite Ti2 *

* If it will ever be possible to purchase a cool white Sunwayman R02A without green tint, then my nomination will be the R02A

AA - Thrunite T10S, fantastic little light, and very robust judging by the tests made by cutlerylover

AAA - at the moment I only have Maglite Solitaire incan but I ordered Beta-QR from Prometheus, cant wait for it to arrive :D

AA...SWM D40A and AAA...Olight I3,old model. It has really taken a beating and keeps going. Like the old style clip better too.

AA--I don't own any and haven't seen any that give me enough benefits vs size over AAA or CR123 lights.

AAA--McGizmo Sapphire

Zebralight H52w is the best single AA light I have run across, unparalleled quality in compact size.Even without a headband the right angle head can become really handy when you need to free up both hands. Just tail stand it and shine where you need it.
