Can anyone recommend the best brigthest thrower AA torch on DX. Size doesn't really matter and cost $30-$40. Number of AA batteries used would be 1 or 2 to keep it a reasonable size but am happy to consider more if something is really good.

I tried reading a few reviews etc but since the tech changes so quick it's hard for newb to wrap his head around it not to mention the mountains of info to get through. Your help is appreciated.

Stainless would be nice but if there is significant difference in brightness I'm happy to skip it.

A nice to have would be a low and high mode but not at the sacrifice of brightness and throw. What I mean by this is if there was a single mode light which was significantly better at brightness and throw then it would be the preference over multimode. If there is little difference then multimode.

TIA!

PS Note: Please no Kaidomain offerings. They are the scum of the universe and I won't be dealing with them ever again even if it means missing out on a super torch

The only units that can really throw are the Romisen N3 and the G2, all other AA lights are pretty much like for like on Dx in regards to throw. Unfortunately the romisens don't carry the latest emitters or multi mode drivers.

If fancy some simple mods a romisen G2 + q5 emitter + sku 7880 driver will give you about the best AA thrower going for very little cash.

If you really need the absolute brightest AA thrower and don't fancy modding, then maybe save a few more pennies for a jetbeam I pro.

The best AA powered stock light on DX is probably the RC-N3 and WF-606.

The RC-N3/RC-G2 with mods will still be within your price range and proved more throw and output.

For all DX parts use a Romisen RC-G2 with 16mm round Q5 (R2 if you will order from Cutter) and sku#7880 driver. This is under 30$ and an easy mod. to give you a single cell thrower that is bright and pocketable. There are threads in the homemade/mod section on this light.
