I'd suggest you do a quick search using the CPF google engine at the top of the screen - you will find a plethora of information on the topic that can get you started.

I've always owned petzls and been happy with the quality - even with their basic models like the tikka.

Check out the petzl e+lite.

Multi-modes, small and red output. Cheap too!

PT Quad. Get it on Ebay for around $21.

Rugged, bright, multi-levels, superior waterproofing, reliable, light. Only drawback is AAA batteries- however the low level is adequate for almost everything including trailwalking.
