hello,

sooo, now i'm looking for some LED light which would be a great spiller/flooder, at a range of say, 5-10m? and preferably running on AA's, but i'd consider CR123's aswell.

any recommendations? :)

thanks!

I like the Piercelight M10 with flood lens. beautiful craftmanship with a nice even flood beam. sad to say they are no longer made...:mecry:

The Innova X5 is old tech, but it works great, has good runtime, and is all flood.

if i go for cr123 then i need a charger (20$) and at least 2 rcr123s (20$ more), so that leaves 60$ to light + shipment. if i go for chaneable lens, same applies, plus if it's on different shop then shipping is doubled, and shipping to lithuania costs loads :(

The Innova X5 is old tech, but it works great, has good runtime, and is all flood.

But it's dim and non-regulated (so much of that long runtime is rather dim). A more modern light with a more concentrated beam will still often give brighter spill because it is several times brighter.

Inova really should make an effort to get their products up to date.

what about difuzer for fenixes, is it any good/worth it?

It's more of a lantern beam than anything else, I think. Not really a practical gadget to have on a light you're walking around with. Take a look at some beamshots - I'd be surprised if an AA cell Fenix with an orange peel reflector wasn't spilly enough for you.

I went to the CPF inspired PhotonFest 9 a few weeks ago, and got to see hundreds of the lights I read about everyday here on CPF. The most impressive lights were the modified and homebuilt lights, but most of those [all of those?] are over $100.

Right now I'm most interested in floody lights. Of the many, many lights I saw the two most impressive stock lights were the ZebraLight headlamp and the AmiLight T5. Since the ZebraLight has no optic or reflector it may not put enough light out to 10 meters - depends on your needs. It does have a beautiful, completely even flood of light, and a lot of it, especially considering its size. It runs on one AA. The AmiLight T5 has great build quality and the nicest beam I've seen in a single cell cr123 light. It is not pure flood, but has a nice spill area with a large hot area in the middle - a perfect general purpose beam. Both lights have a nice tint.

If I had to pick one [non-standard CPF procedure], I would second jeffb's recommendation of the AmiLite T5.
