Hey Folks - I'm getting adventurous again and will try to mod the Q3 once again LOL

This time, i will not:

1) burn out the LED
2) Solder like a rabid 3 year old
3) Actually make it work for more than 20 seconds (see #1 lol)

My question would be: Which LED would work best with the Q3? Would you even thing P7 or am I getting crazy? (I know runtime would be for the birds but it's ok in this case)

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thank You,

Ken

You can try a Seoul P4 Mod again.

Or remove the driver and direct drive a Seoul P7 with a RCR123.

I just got a Cree to work in it (about a half hour ago). A huge step for me!!!

Maybe that would be the best path to stay with. I seemed to be able to solder a lot better now and want to try some things here and there.

or.....

Direct driving a P7 would be fun. Now the real fun question: would you be able to please describe what I need to do to get this to go? :)

Thank You!!

Not unless I see some pictures of the inside. I don't think I have handled a QIII before.

You can probably send one of the modders a PM though and ask them about it.

I won't be here tomorrow and I'll have to wake up early, so I won't be posting anything(or searching) until probably tomorrow evening.

I've modded my Q3 with a 5-mode 1A drived from Dx and a Cree. When it works, it's incredibly bright. I have a minor problem with the battery contact though; the driver board is a little narrower than the body of the light, so I placed a washer in there to make up the difference. Problem is that the washer is a little too thick and it interferes with the battery + contact, making it a little intermittent. I've got to find a thinner washer.
