Hi everyone,

i am new here and did a bit of research here but didn't find the exact answer. I just imported a used 2005 hummer h2 from USA into Laos, Southeast Asia. I later found out the headlights are all tanned and useless. I will order new headlights & fog lights but since it's going to be ordered from USA Why not upgrade it from factory oem to the best performing lights. I'd like your advice as to which set I should be looking at.

I'm also looking to get a led light bar so it would be helpful if anyone could include some clue what to buy and what not to buy.

I do lots of mudding and highway driving not for fun but just because we construct roads over here.

thanks

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the CandlePowerForums!

Laos is an RHT jurisdiction, so the J.W. Speaker Model 8700 may be just what you need.

There are five models, perhaps Scheinwerfermann can advise on which is really best for the legal requirements.

  1. DOT-compliant high/low beam
  2. ECE RHT-compliant high/low beam with front position
  3. ECE RHT-compliant high/low beam without front position
  4. ECE LHT-compliant high/low beam with front position
  5. ECE LHT-compliant high/low beam without front position

It may be either #1 or #2 (unless front position lamps aren't required, then #3 would be alright). You may need to check with the Ministry of Transport.

Thanks for replies,

How about the wires? Is there any other necessary harness, relay, fuse ect. Needed to get them installed. I"ll make the order together so when it arrives I can install them immediately.

Can you kindly point out the exact model for both headlights and fog also anything else needed for install. I was interested in these but wasn't really sure, so big thanks.

sorry for the bare questions as to I don't have any knowlage regarding lights. Just started to learn on the forum here.

Right Hand Travel and Left Hand Travel .. ECE is the standard in certains parts of the world, similar to DOT in the USA..
In laos we drive on the same side as usa also the steering wheel is left hand side. Nice to know things 555

Just wondering, what is ECE RHT & ECE LHT??

Im pretty sure it is for right hand traffic and left hand traffic.

Hummer h2, it's important to remember that it is the position of the vehicle on the road, not of the driver in the car, that determines the headlamp directionality. RHT (right hand traffic) is NOT synonymous with LHD (left hand drive), as you may note that many U.S. postal vehicles are RHD. They still use RHT headlamps.

Unfortunately, some sellers will throw about acryonyms like "RHD" and "LHD" (and JDM, but that's a whole 'nuther subject), to sound all authoritative or "cool".

It can get a little confusing, but when you specify RHT or LHT, you should get exactly what you specify.

Front position lamps are what we in the US and Canada would call "parking lights", and in the UK "front sidelights" colloquially (but are not the same as "side marker lights"). In the ECE version, they would emit white light. If your H2 doesn't have white front position lamps (again, not the "side markers") then #3 would get them for you (you may have to disable the factory front position lights, but be sure you don't disable the turn signal function if the front position and front turn signal lamps are incorporated). This is another little peculiarity that Scheinwerfermann could help sort out, perhaps.

With the JW Speaker headlamps, front fog lamps might not really be that useful. A single rear fog lamp may be a better idea. Rear-ending accidents aren't prevented by front fog lamps, rather they are prevented by rear fog lamps. There are some excellent LED rear fog lamps (which means even lower electrical demands and you can use thinner wiring for them), so there's that benefit, too.
