Hi,
I'm currently thinking about the best solution to use my Mag 4D with LiIons. Voltage is not really an issue, as it will be handled by a buck/boost constant current source.
I want to leave the original case unmodified, as I want to keep the possibility to change back to D cells if no charger is available.
Therefore, the maximum battery dimensions are 35x~250mm.
In general, I got the feeling that other formats than 18650 are rarely available, and proper tests are even harder to find.
My thoughts so far are:
4x25500 -> 220mm, ~3,5Ah => 51,8Wh http://www.fasttech.com/products/14...-37v-5500mah-rechargeable-lithium-battery-1-p, ~31$, 0,6$/Wh
3x26650 -> 204mm, ~4Ah => 44Wh, http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/...ng-26650-37v-4000mah-rechargeable-li-ion-batt, ~24$, 0,55$/Wh
4x32600 -> 240mm, ~4Ah => 60Wh, no source?
3x32650 -> 200mm, ~5,5Ah => 61Wh, http://www.fasttech.com/products/14...eilong-32650-3-7v-6000mah-rechargeable-li-ion ~46$, 0,75$/Wh
So, it looks like I should go with 26650 (cheaper) or 25500 (slightly more expensive, but more capacity). Are there any recommendation about better cells or other solutions?
Thanks
Moritz
