because i am new to the world of illumination, i rely upon those of you with more knowledge & experience than i.

i am ordering a couple of e2's, but would also like to have an led handheld as well. if i understand things correctly, the typical led light will provide light significantly longer than the typical 60 lumen e2.

what company(s) makes the best led handheld?

and also, if it's not too much to ask, what are the best sites from which to purchase that light?

thank you. i always appreciate the advice i have received.

Hi Brian, I think you will need to give our members more info before they will be able to recomend...do you want a key chain light or a bigger brighter one...how much would you like to spend...and maybe if possible (if you know) some idea of what you will use the light for. You might want to post this question on the other side (led) just to be sure it doesn`t get lost...so to speak.

I would suggest any LED related threads are started in the LED Forum.

Ok, I see you said hand held so...Treck 7/Expedition or, if you can wait, maybe the soon to be released Lightwave 4000...they both are around $60.

The Black Diamond Moon (beam?) thingy (I forgot the darn name! I can't believe it.....I'll have to check later and edit in the right name later) --anyway... this one's a headlight; but maybe you can adapt it for handheld. I almost always use the headband feature though, on other headlights, so both hands are free...I haven't seen the Moonbeam yet, still waiting for delivery, but I expect it to be one of the toughest ever, next to the Action light, perhaps..another feature of the BlackDiamond I expect to like is the 1 2 3 or 4 LED option...there is also an optional larger battery pack that can be plugged in....so you get your 1 LED with big battery bank design if you want that...
