In my line of work im all the time needing a light for short pierods of time. I kept a mity light in my pocket for years until it broke. Is there a light the size of a mity light that will fit in my shirt pocket and the bulbs will last longer.I tried the arc aaa le (not bright enough)

Streamlight Stylus is one of the brightest single led lights around. It's a bit wider that a #2 pencil...in fact,it looks like a ballpoint pen in your shirt pocket.

Roy, Do you think the stylus would be brighter than the mitylite. I have to look in ceilings and crawlspaces and need something with a long throw.
Thanks Trent

Artar, No I dropped it and the houseing broke.I had to replace the bulb after three or four battery changes.
Thanks Trent

Maybe something LS based? like an Ill-pill or a MadMax drop in? Or put a lens in front of your AAA LE to enhance throw...

Blackbart, I would like something ls based but I don't think I could find something that would fit comfortable in my shirt pocket. I have tried the inova x5 but it is still a bit big. Working in electrical panels frequently I would perfer one that was not metal. Thanks again,Trent

Lumitoid....

I'm not familiar with the Mitylite. LED's normally don't have "throw". The Stylus is great out to about 3-4 feet..closer the better. Might I suggest the AAA Mini Maglite? I seem to remember that it comes with a pocket clip.

Electrical panels yeah, no metal!

-- you might consider an LED headlamp or clip-on flashlight/LED lamp.

Or else one of the LEDs on a snakey flexible neck that has a USB plug on the other end; I got several from compgeeks.com that came with 4-AA battery packs, also usable as powerpack for cellphones. I can put one of those in a pocket and put the bright end anywhere within a 12" distance and it'll stay there.

Pelican has a great warranty. At least in writing. Send it in and get it replaced. And when you get it back put a lamp assembly for a Super MityLite in it. It fits and is slightly brighter.

The clip light could be a great choice. If you have a Sharper Image store near you you can save the shipping charges. They sell for around $15 bucks...3 led...clip that can hook on your hat and other things while working.Might be a bit bulky in a shirt pocket though. Pal light?

How about trying a UKE 2AAA penlight. This light has fairly good lightthrow, plastic body, clips onto your pocket, and is waterproof.Brightguy is selling it for $9.95 +S+H.

Thanks for everyones response, I tried the uke 2aaa penlight a couple of years ago it had great light but the bulb did not last long. Is there anything out that is as bright but has a longer bulb life and is non metal, and fits in a dress shirt neatly.I would love to find a 4 led white penlight plastic about the size of a uke 2aaa penlight. There is just not anything out there.
Thanks Trent

For electrical safety you could get an insulating tube to slide over it or wrap the Stylus with electrical tape, or use the paint-on 'liquid electrical tape' as a coating. I agree they're very nice. Only problem is hand-holding it, but I've tucked one into the earpiece of my eyeglasses in need; tape one to your safety glasses?

I don't think the stylus is significantly brighter than the arc le. Is a Princton tec attitude too big? I'm working on a mod to put a Opalec in a Blast. Kind of expensive though.

If you could find the original pager based eternalight, it fits a shirt pocket much better than the ergo models. With four LED's it might be bright enough and very light if you use AA lithium batteries.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Or you could wait for Tech Associates new AAA-powered eternalights (dubbed the Micron in another thread). Nonetheless, any of the Eternalights make *fantastic* pocket lights - definitely one of the absolute brightest 4 LED light out there (the Elite I have outshines my LW2K+lithiums, matches my 7-LED LW3k and older Inova X5). I'm really hanging on the edge of my seat to see what Tom Hoops (MrEternalight) is gonna release with the Microns...

How far does the light need to throw? If it's just for area lighting I will suggest the Radio Shack dual flourecent light, it's like a little square thing that fits nicely into a shirt pocket and is super bright. They are on clearance now at just about all Radio Shacks for $2.97 (down from $11.99)

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I find the Attitude's flattened shape very comfortable for pocket carry. The problem is not having it fall out of Lumitoid's pocket while he is crawling around those wires.
