I'm looking to buy my next light. I have a T100C2 MkII but it doesn't throw quite enough for me.

Budget is $100 to $150. I'd like something that runs regulated or semi-regulated on high for at least 1-1.5hrs on high using one or two 18650's.

In my original post I had a size restriction but I changed my mind. Size doesn't matter!

Right now I am strongly considering the Jetbeam RRT-1/2. I don't care about the rings.
If you think there's something better in this price range, let me know.

You guys rock! 😀

Re: Best thrower no bigger than a streamlight stinger?

I don't know how big a Streamlight Stinger is, but I would suggest a Jetbeam Raptor RRT-1

The best thrower I've ever used in the Stinger size range is the LumaPower MRV.

Tiablo A10 throws better than anything I had. Sorry I sold mine. Pretty sure it takes a 18650. And it is in your price range.

A good Tiablo A9 for sale in the classifieds. I love the throw of that light.

I would recommend the JetBeam RRT-2 Raptor. Takes 18650's, and is a great thrower. Also meets your size qualifications. Here is a great review of the light. You can get a great price on it at www.lightjunction.com plus a 12% discount with the code CPFSAVE12 at checkout.
I'm really considering this light in warm tint. Anyone know how much more throw i can expect compared to my T100C2 MkII?

EDIT: I am also considering the RRT-1 raptor. Depends on how much the RRT-2 out-throws my T100C2.

According to selfbuilt's excellent review that I linked you to, the JetBeam RRT-2 has a lux reading of 14,900. The EagleTac T100C2 MkII has a lux reading of 11,500. That tells me that the RRT-2 will throw quite a bit better. Maybe a CPF'r with more technical experience will chime in and confirm this.

Re: Best thrower no bigger than a streamlight stinger?

My RRT-1 throws like catapult on coffee.

I had it showing house fronts from a good 300m away, and they were already well lit... I can only imagine it in pitch black conditions!

Hey Dime. I know you are all excited and enthused about your RRT-1 as I am mine. It's a throw monster, and I would like to recommend it to the OP, but if you read his original post....he does not want a big head light, and would like it to be about the same size as a Stinger. The RRT-2 fits the bill for this, and is a hella thrower also.

Re: Best thrower no bigger than a streamlight stinger?

Yeah fair enough.

Like I said, I don't know how big a Stinger is, and to me I don't find the Raptors head that big... maybe I'm alone with that thought!

I think i have changed my mind on size restrictions. I already have a T100C2, what i guess is a medium range thrower. So instead of getting another light the same size or a little bigger, i might as well go all out and get the best thrower in my price range, period.

I'm really considering the RRT-1, it's a beautiful light and the reviews and beamshots say it's an awesome thower! The rings don't really bother me.

I will change the title to reflect my change of heart.

EDIT: I can't change the title, should i just start another thread?

You should be able to change the title if you go to advanced edit.

Get the Tiablo A9 + Collimator Head or the Deerelight DBS + Collimator Head.

Is that the same as an aspherical? I don't want something that's easy to damage or scratch.

Re: Best thrower for $100-$150

From the replies and after some deep reading, I am led to believe the following two statements to be true:

#1: With no size restrictions, the RRT-1 is the best single 18650 thrower in the $100-$150 range.

#2: The RRT-2 is the best single 18650 thrower in it's size class for $100-$150.

This Is considering lights without special lenses like asphericals.

I think the RRT-2 is fairly new but it looks like a killer thrower for it's size.

What about the Jetbeam M1X? I'm very happy with mine.
