I have the p60l drop-in from surefire for my g2, but I'm wondering if there is a better led drop in available. I would like a regulated led drop in that produces greater light, consistent light (regulated), even if it means a shorter runtime. Any suggestions? I have been reading about Cree Q5 but I cant find information on runtime and I'm not sure how it compares to surefires drop-in. Any help is appreciated.

Malkoff M60L. 4.5 hours on regulation at 140 emitter lumens (approx 100 torch lumens). Malkoff M60LL, over 8 hours on regulation 80 bulb lumens(approx 60 torch lumens). There is also the M60 but that only gets 1:45 minutes in regulation, and it shouldn't operated for more than 15 minutes at a time due to heat buildup. The benefit though is about 200 torch lumens.

The malkoff drop-ins use cree Q5's in a warm white tint. The P60L is much bluer in comparison. They're a little pricier than most P60 drop-ins but the quality is top-notch, well worth it. I plan on getting the M60LL for my yellow surefire G2 to use as an an emergency light for the truck, I'm currently using it with my M60 module until my surefire C2 gets here.

here you go... lots to choose from.

Recommend:

DX 6090 cheap but used by many in G2's (like me)

Malkoff M60L best alternative if you want to spend more

BOG, Wolf Eyes and Dereelight are also very good but may have heat issues in a Nitrolon light since they're high output Q5's

The G2L already has a current gen LED in it, the LED isn't driven as hard as it is in some of the other drop-ins because the P60L module is more runtime oriented.

Does your G2L have a polymer head or a aluminum one?

A polymer head would mean that you can't use any of the higher powered drop-ins for too long a time. The polymer would isolate the heat from the module and could make the LED fry itself.

How much do you want to pay for this drop-in?

:welcome:

Thanks for your advice. I opted for the Malkoff m60l. This is an expensive hobby.
