As the title says. I'm looking for a safe way to store my SF MN bulbs when traveling. I've kept the cardboard protector that came with them, but I'm looking for a but more protection than that.

I don't have a Pelican case but would that be a good place to store them? If so what model?

Any other cheaper options? I was going to use an old 35mm film canister but it's too small.

Thanks!

Sorry I should have stated that The SF spares carryers arn't what i'm looking for.

If ive got 5 bulbs I don't really wan't to carry 5 spares carryers with me.

Ta.

I'm still trying to figure out why you need FIVE spares... ;)

Anyhoo, I would go with a Pelican case and pick'n'pluck foam. One of the smaller ones should be sufficient. Should be able to get for less or around $20 here in the US. Don't know what options you have to get them in the UK. Model/size depends on the LA(s) you want to put in; they seem to vary quite a bit in size.

The way I would do it is to get a case that's high enough to store the longest LA upright. I would put them into the foam, front first, so you can grab them from the contact side. Max. one block taken out of the foam per LA should be enough to get them in and out easily and protect them well enough during transport. Thinner LAs could be pressed just in, in between the blocks, for very secure storage.

I use a small 5X8 plano fishing lure type plastic box with appx 15 compartments, I wrap the bulbs in tissue, works well with CR123 batteries too.

If you have some 35mm film canisters available, buy some foam from pelican, cut them into small sheets, roll your lamps up and stuff it in the canisters....unless you stomp on it its going to be well protected.

you should see how our admin Size15's carry his spare lamps...a toolbox :nana:
heres his pic from his site

:wow:

Ditto...I also use 35mm film canisters. That's how I protect them while in a backpack in the field too.

Nice tool box Size15s! That's neat :)

It's for storage rather than transportation. If the main task was for transportation I'd be looking for a foam-filled case of some sort as well.

Sorry on the late reply, I went on holiday. :p

I'm just gonna get a Pelican case it seems like the best Idea.

theres always these, i have a few and they work great. Theres room to store 2 bulbs per container if you need to.
