Better battery stick for Ultra Stinger?

Does anyone know of a (kick a**) higher current battery stick for the Ultra Stinger? The original is 5 sub C cells. Also, it has a tiny ring on the positive end that I assume is for alignment.

Thanks

I don't know if NiCads have this property, but I know that NiMH SubC cells are capable of enormous (25A+) current. In all likelihood, the NiCads are fine.

I could be wrong, though. Does anyone know if NiCad SubCs behave like the NiMH ones?

Hello BigusLightus,

I believe your original pack is made with NiCd cells. There are some NiMh cells that will offer higher voltage under load (resulting in a brighter light with less dimming) and higher capacity (resulting in longer run time). The problem is the battery construction and charging.

Some chargers that are set up for NiCd cells are not friendly toward NiMh cells. You can end up with reduced cycle life if your charger is like this.

The ring you see is the negative contact. When you build the pack, you need to run a connection from the bottom of the last cell up to that ring.

I went through a similar project for SureFire lights that use the B90 battery pack. If you search on a thread about Twice the Run Time and Brighter, you should get an idea of what is involved.

My Ultrastinger battery died, so this thread interests me as well.

Is there any way to use primary cells in this light? If I can, what do I need to do? Thanks.

so far so good :D
the thing showed up the next morning...turns out they are based about 10mi from me, LOL

battery charged up fine, no heat. now we'll see how long it lasts compared to the OE pk.

buglight, I'm interested in this battery as well, so please do check back in when you have results. Thanks!
