So I'm sitting in church the past few weeks and as people are walking in I notice rigger belts, fanny packs, etc. I start to think what if you had to carry gear unnoticed into this environment. I see a bunch of people with zip up bible covers so I made one. Then I made a bit different version of it as you will see in the below pictures. I'll get some better pictures later if you are interested.

Slot pocket on one side inside for papers.

Elastic slots on the other side for pens.

Flat pocket on each side of the outside for papers, programs, etc.

Here is the other version I did.

I added a handle to carry it easier.

velcro covered pals on both side inside.

There is a divider page inside like I put in my E&E/Bail out bags. It has velcro covered pals on one side and elastic slots on the other side.

Here is the elastic side on the left of the picture.

Here is the pals side on the right side of the picture.

Here are some pictures with some stuff inside so you can get an idea of what it will hold.

There is plastic in the front and back as well as the spine so it holds its shape and prevent items inside from printing. It can be removed if you want to use it to hold a book.

Very cool! I need one of those. :D

Not that I would carry a gun, or knife to Church. But, I would carry a light, a few pens, etc.

I'll take a look at my Bible cover to see what I can do with it...

Here is how I have had this thing for the last few days. It all fits and dosent print. People see it and just think its a day planner.

Might it be a problem with this approach in that if you were to take something like this to church, that you would be expected to open it while there and remove the "bible" that is in it?

A better approach might be to use something that would be expected in the environment, but not specific to the environment - i.e. the fanny pack might work out better.

I have thought about the book/bible/organizer (there are commercial products for this purpose), but I have resisted for 2 main reasons:

1) Most of them can't be locked and it would be easy for someone to assume and open by accident. (especially curious children).

2) Small things like this are way too easy to lose or have stolen.

3) So this would necessitate me keeping a constant eye on it where I would prefer to keep my attention on people and what is going on around me. Condition yellow at all times.

Women have it so much easier from this perspective with purses. I have been amazed (more than once) by what a woman has "packed" away in her purse. This is regardless of how big it is....And it is perfectly acceptable for a woman to have a purse with her at all times, it's not even questioned.
