These blue leds are no where bright enough see with, but they're sure bright enough to be seen...

btw, guess what battery is wrapped up under all that gaffer =)

Neat. But don't you find the stray light from the LEDs to be distracting? I would think that the glare might be a hinderance to your vision on the road at night. Maybe if you relocated them on top of the visor?

Well, at the moment it's stuck on with bluetack. So moving it to the top will prove to be quite a task... =)

Anyway, I haven't actually used it yet. So I'm not sure if I'll be distracted, I put then under the visor to hide the ugly white wiring (cause I couldn't find any black ones).

If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say it was one of those Polapulse batteries that come as part of Polaroid instant film packs.

Did you know you can get 27 amps out of one of those things? You can, but only for a brief time.

For powering LEDs, Polapulse batteries should last a reasonable amount of time, even if the battery was removed from an already used film pack. But if you use a lot of them, they're a pain in the toilet muscle to replace unless you make a fitted holder for them with leaf-type spring contacts leading out to wires or to the connector of your choice.

Wow, you really know your stuff!

That's why it was bad guy's first joice for letter bombs. It is easy to set off a blasting fuse with it (actually I've never tried it, although I have at least one of these batteries here).

OK, I read the whole post, but on the above, can you expose a few more details ?

(There may be a chance that I can get a few of these real cheap ...... )

Oh, and can you make any suggestions for peaceful uses for them ?

Details of what? These batteries have a very low internal resistance compared with their capacity (large electrode surface).
And usually when the film is empty there is lots of electricity left.
