Black Bear lights. 1050 lumens?

Since the Search function isn't working and I haven't seen it mentioned, I thought I would ask... anyone have real-world experience with the Black Bear Mags? They look impressive, but I want owner's comments before I take the bait.

Black Bear is a nick/brand that CPF member 'juancho' uses to sell his Borealis lights, formerly known as Mag951s, till Mag told him to drop their trademark.

They are basically the same as magmods that lotsa CPFers are doing around here, but marketed to military and public safety/security organisations. If you are on a budget, make one yourself or buy one off B/S/T etc...

I have one of his lights. I am really very happy. Yes, price might be an issue, but for my line of work, its awesome. His customer service and workmanship is outstanding.

i've had one of his polar bear lights for several years and the only problem has been with an 18500 cell, which has only gone bad in the last month. he made it easy to understand what i was getting and what would work better for my situation. it was a pleasure dealing with him. since then i have built my own rop-hi and m*g 85, but i'm happy to have purchased his polar bear.

I have used one of his Borealis lights for about a year and a half. I am a midnight shift LEO. I use it everynight. It has never failed me. I am still using the same bulb that came with it.

I don't have the time to build my own, or I would have. A few people make these modified lights for those of us who can't or don't want to. I have no affiliation to Black Bear lights except as a VERY satisfied customer. I am quoted on his site because his light is terrific. I am Sgt D.A.

As a short example, I was on a call looking for a possible parole violator in a rural plant nursery. There were about 10 of us looking around. I was able to light up about 10 times the area of anyone else with my light. It was a nice feeling.

CPF member juancho is a great guy to deal with. I hope he is doing well with his light sales. I hope you check out his site and consider a purchase. Remember, I don't get anything for this glowing review, I'm just a very satisfied customer.

I would also suggest that if you think you can make your own mag mod, do it. I would have, but I had more money than brains and time.
