My questions:
1) Can I modify Black Diamond with CREE XLAMP
2) Can I fix the white glue (temp resistant?) in the lamp

I wasn't sure whether this is right forum, or shold this be mods... But here is my question. I have Black Diamond. Bought it mostly because it is rechargable with a battery pack that can be changed. Convenient. I wanted to change the bulb. I have CREE XLAMP. I am not a technician, did some soldering in the past, but not breaking new grounds with modding. So I went to an electronic repair store to change the bulb...

To cut this short :popcorn:, I looked at the lamp with the technician and found out it can't be moded. Or at least I don't know how. The LED board looks different in Black Diamond. It's not Star shaped. The LED is star shape. So I don't know... Is it still possible to change?:candle:

BTW - the technician ripped of the radiator (what it's called...cooler metal) from the back of the lamp. It was attached to it with a sort of white glue. I think it is heat resistant glue. Now I don't know whether I can repair it. Can i get the glue from somewhere?

Why I want to mod this headlamp - I find the light pretty OK, but it is too much centered. I choose CREE because it is very bright but less centred beam.

BTW -I had before this cheap knock-off lamp I bought on ebay, it was a chinese lamp. It got damaged, I scratched it on the lense. It was so strong. even stronger than Black Diamond. But the batter didn't last beyond 20 hours. But the light was extremely strong.

Thanks for help.

Hi, I dont know how is your lamp inside, but if this one got a star Led, maybe a Luxeon you can replace with any other Led with star, if you can buy a epoxy two parts like Artic Ceramic Lumina, this is what I use...

1st: when not sure and have such a Question --> SHOW a picture!

2nd: "emitter swap"
* open light
* get old led off heatsink
* mount new one
* close light
done

the only real hard thing (with the BDs I know) is: can they be opened?
swap is a breeze usually
... but they are all luxeon and optic, so better take a Seoul instead of a Cree - if You are not to change the optic
