Bored With Surefire?

I wonder what the ratio of people under SOCOM, MARSOC, and LE to civilians are that use SureFire products.

At least those select few get to test them for the rest of the world.

Still looking for a civilian with a SureFire product though <_< .. >_>

To add to what Robocop said:

I find that SureFire products are designed and built to save lives. Not in most cases to provide a nice light that works in all situations.

If I just needed a flashlight for general things I wouldn't use SureFire either. Then again, I don't buy them for that reason, so I don't get bored, I hope to stay alive.

Well, more along the lines of what the OP asked, not really bored. They still have a few lights I'm wanting, and since getting my first one 5 years ago, the new one's to come out since have impressed me. As long as they keep coming out with 2 or 3 well made lights (or revisions to older one's), I'll never be Do they come out with 10 new models every year? No. Do they still have lights that fit my needs? Yes. Would I pay $239 for a titan? hell no. I definitely want one of the new G2D-FYL with the new KL3 bezel's though!!! Mark down 1 for "Not bored"

You have not seen the thread on the bored C2 and 6P's with torture test? Plus the C2 clip is niiiice and useful. And I only want to use the KL3 and Malkoff M60 I already have. I already have an L2 body. iiits oooo-kay as a 6P alternate.
Why bore a Surefire tube... risking too thin areas around the o-rings and threads... I think the body is thin enough as is...So, you could buy a complete L2 flashlight for around $30 including R2 lamp assembly and then pop on a Surefire Z-41 or Z-59 tailcap and not have to risk thin threads areas with boring out a Surefire tube.

< Edit: OOOOOOH! the new KL3 is out! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!! >

BAAB... your call my friend... whatever you are most comfortable with is your call, your result. Honestly, I just can't see any good reason to bore out a perfectly well made Surefire tube when awesome 18650 tubes that fit perfectly are readily available for very little money, leaving the original Surefire tube in it's perfectly natural state... but that's just me. 😉

I'm not bored with SureFire. I still like mine. I would say I've ridden this particular horse as far as it can take me though. I finished putting together the ultimate C3 Centurion which took me from the thrill of chasing performance to the limits of the platform. Now I have a highly modular tool that can be configured to suit just about any need.

until I have a M3-6 and a Beast I'll never be bored, Besides my E1e,E1l,6P and C3 all give me a reason to saylovecpflovecpflovecpflovecpflovecpflovecpflovecpflovecpflovecpflovecpflovecpflovecpf:naughty:

I'm very bored with one particular aspect regarding Surefire.... Their now well-earned reputation for loooooong delays in putting out models announced back during the start of 2008.

That was supposed to be the year that nearly all of us went broke while we O.D.ed on the incredible amount of new Surefire products. 2008, the grand year for Surefire... that never was.

Someone at Surefire needs to answer for the fat wallet in my hip pocket. Why is my wallet obese?? Why does my wallet not resemble a 14 year-old, anorexic, fashion-show model that everyone pretends is at least 21.

Yeah, I'm bored with sitting on a fat wallet.

LOL, that almost counts as baiting! We'll spend your $$ for you if you want to alleviate the painful pressure on your @$$.

LOL

I'd be happy to provide my fellow flashaholics with the latest & greatest offerings from Surefire... Just as soon as they're released. 😛

Bored?

I'm waiting for a G2, 6P and C2 to arrive and my old trusty 6P is going to get bored for 18650.
Pop a Malkoff M30 or M60LF in there and a Z49/59 and I'll be very happy.

The rest are toys while the Surefire 6PD with LF D26 HO is my bedside companion when the chips are down.

In Surefire and Glock I trust.
But they are both as boring as any reliable tool.

I never get bored with Sexy Women + Surefire

Personally I am not of the "brighter is better" mentality. I can find just as many uses for 10L as I can for 200 or 300L, so I dont hold it against them that they are not always the brightest lights around. (Although the E2DL is a legit 200L OTF and the P91 will get you above 400L OTF.. so long as you are willing to use it with a host that accepts 2x18650 IMR). IMHO Their build quiality is VERY good and combined with their CS and lifetime of parts replacement I personally think Surefires are worth every penny.

Just about ALL flashlight manufacturers claim and advertise 100% bogus Lumen output specs. Read garys "Actual Lumen" sticky and compare Surefires advertised Lumen output with others.. and you can easily see whos blowing smoke and who is honest. IMHO... to knock SF for their Lumen output is not really fair. They are merely doing what they advertise, and in many cases they exceed their advertised lumen output.

For me the deal breaker is that they can not accept rechargable chemistries. Sure you can run a 2xCR123 light with a 17670, but (AFIAK) it generally will not run optimally. Sure you can risk running a 6V light with 2xRCR123 but there is an element of risk in doing that. The lack of 18650 compatibility of course is another deal breaker in my book.

I don't think anyone on CPF knows enough about the business and millitary industry in general to say whether or not their sales are hurting. I think As long as US military agencies comply to the Berry Ammendment, there will always be a demand for USA made lights. Surefire has a proven track record and history of reliable service with the US military. I can't imagine US military pulling out of Surefire and contracting another USA manufacturer... but in todays economy who knows anything is possible.

FWIW I love my 6P and M2, but neither are really stock. It took some tuning and mild mods to get them to my liking.

Bored with Surefire NO WAY... Will I buy another NO WAY (so long as it does not accept rechargeable)

How did you get over 400 OTF lumens from a P91

Yes it's real ... from Tomb Raider 2. It was a pretty good movie too.
