Bright (>500 Lumens) Thrower

I would perfer a light that runs on 18650 cells. The price needs to be below $100.

I'd recommend looking at shiningbeam.com. Check out their own lights (by manufacturer shiningbeam) and get one of the XM-L X-Thrower series. Be sure to get one that is driven pretty hard, as you can see from the specs. Should be about 60 bucks. Similar lights tend to go for 100ish by Quark, 4Sevens, etc. But you can shop them by goinggear.com under 1x18650 flashlights and see what you find.

I own a Dereelight with a XML pill which will throw about 100 yards and puts out 700 lumens. It is not my best thrower, but gives a nice balance of flood and throw. It costs about $93 at the Flashlight Connection.

I've just received the ThruNite T30. Runs on 2 x rcr123 or 18650. 530 lumens and a stated 200m throw if I remember correctly. Firefly / med / turbo UI. I got it shipped for £40.

If you want a pure thrower check out the dereelight DBS with an aspheric head and an XR-E emitter. But it is a pure thrower, no spill at all.

For throw lux (intensity at a specified distance) is what counts, not lumens (total light output in all directions).
