Ok, i am convinced to buy a "hard anodized" luxeon light. However, due to my second to empty wallet

, i am forced to choose between e1e, e2e, and arc ls. Now, which one is brighter: e2e with kl1 or arc ls? if e2e is brighter, how does arc ls compared with e1e + kl1? All of the lights will eventually end up with the same price range, so no price problem. The arc ls won because of its versatility while the e1e/e2e won in the coolness factor. So, anyone can tell me which one to buy? Any suggestion other than the usual slogan "buy both" will be much appreciated.
thanks

The only versatility with the ARC-LS might be with the various battery configurations that can be used. That's about it and that was on the older generations. I'm not sure if that still holds true or not. Every E2E-KL1 setup I have is brighter than every ARC-LS that I have.

For the best size, the ARC-LS with the 1 x 123 cofiguration can not be matched. For versatility, the E2E is great. You can use the Kl1, you can use the MN02 and MN03 incandecent, plus you can get yourself an E2C adapter to open up the E2E possibilities even further.

shiftd, are you from irvine in Scotland? If so, can you tell me where you get your stuff from? I've sent emails to about 5 companies that are regularly recommended here, about overseas shipment of surefires and am still waiting to hear from any of them.

this_is_nascar,
yes, i mean the versatility of the arc ls lies in its battery compartment but then again, now you tell me that e2e also versatile in a different way. Might go to an e2e. In term of brightness, the e2e brighter than arc ls but that because the e2e uses more battery. how does the e1e compared to arc ls? If you were me, which one you would like to take: e1e or e2e? the price only differ by $5 so price problem might be negligible. Thanks nascar.

Any more suggestion? anyone?

The E2e HA is a very nice light and I have heard great things about running it with the KL1. On the downside, the KLx series are noted for the blue/violet tint. My new KL3 I got for my Z3 is definately violet. I compared it my Arc "AAA" standard and LE models, Arc LSH Blem, and Eternalight Elite Xray. It is still very bright and a high quality piece I would buy again.

The Arc LS line is changing for 2003 and I think you may want to wait and consider the new line. I would have got a KL1 for my E2e HA, but the Z3 was getting left behind in favor of the M3 and by going KL3 I got the Z3/KL3 back in use. I also couldn't quite give up the nice round beam of the E2e. It is still my favorite EDC incandescent light.

I also have pairs of lights now for different uses. First, the EDC pair of the LSH blem and the E2e HA. Then the big boys, M3 and Z3/KL3. It gives me more flexability and all use the same batteries that I already carry in my pack.
