Is the MiniMag running a Nextstar bulb the brightest 2aa light? I've read that the Streamlight ProPolymer 2AA is brighter but at the cost of a pencil thin beam, which I don't want. How about the Princeton Tec Sport Flare? Can this be made brighter than a MiniMag? Thanks.

If you can get ahold of a 2 x 17500 E-series body with a batter sleeve for 14mm cells, or one of the elusive new E2L-2AA lights, you can try this, I've found the Surefire MN01 runs very nicely on 2AA.

I imagine it would be even better on two Energizer lithium AA cells.

DO a search on CPF for Aurora Minimag.
Special ceramic socket to accomodate a new bulb, new reflector and glass window, two Li-Ion AA. You can't get more from the 2AA form.

Well, I didn't mention that because the OP was asking about 2AA, but that is an option if he wants to use two 3.7v 14500 lithium ion cells, get a lithium ion charger, a ceramic socket, replace the reflector and lens and locate the bulbs. I think Fivemega or somebody like that also makes, or at one time made a socket for the 2AA Minimag that can hold the Streamlight TL3 bulbs, I'm not sure if it's the same socket.

Anybody know if the MN01 will work in an E2L-2AA body? If so, this would be the Surefire version of the Minimag. Also, from my calculations, the runtime would be at least twice as long as the E1E. 3+ hours on a Surefire.....Interesting!
