i'm in need of a headlamp that is plenty bright and possibly 12v compatible

i recently bought a atv and it has only forward facing lights, which does me no good when i look in a direction other than straight... so i have to turn the atv in a direction i want to look... and then turn back if i decide that's not a good way to go...

i currently have the rayovac k2 led headlamp found at costco... which works well...(when i remember to bring it) but is rather dim compared to 2 35 watt halogen lights and it runs off of 3 aa batteries... weight doesnt bother me but i'd like something brighter and it'll be hardwired into the atv as well so runtime wouldnt be an issue... something already made would be preferred (or if someone has already made something and is willing to make another) i'd rather not build or modify anything as i'm getting burnt out on doing things like that

led preferred.... but incan isnt completely out of the equation

not looking to break the bank either... under 100 would satisfactory... although i know hard to obtain... just looking for something better than my current set-up

Probably your best bet is something like a big Silva http://www.outdoorgb.com/p/silva_478_lightweight_headlamp/ which takes bipin bulbs - fairly sure you can get these in either 35W or 50W 12V versions if you want a lot of light (you can certainly get 20W 12V). Simply plug this into your vehicle electrics. A bit more expensive than you wanted, but you won't get anything close to the power of a vehicle headlight for less.

I don't have one, so I can't check, but I'm pretty sure that Silva 478 uses 6V bulbs. Of course, you can always mod it to use your ATV battery, that should be pretty easy. There are lots of bulb options for 12V, but bi-pins come in many different sizes, so check before you buy.

It comes with 6V bulbs as standard, but you can get 12V bulbs with the same base (I think it's G4, though not 100%) and it works fine with those - I've run mine at 12V.

I am also looking for a high output headlight. I have been looking at the Princeton tec apex but know as soon as I buy one they will come out with a cree version so I am waiting.
This one is very highly rated and will take from 6 to 18 volts input. Also in the $300ish range.

You should look at HID bike lighting systems, and mount it to a helmet. Most of them are using 10+W HID MR-16 assemblies.
