Has anyone managed to take one of these apart?? I'm very curious, but mine appears to be plastic welded together and I'm afraid of destroying it. Can the LED be replced with a high output 10000mcd led?? Can it be overdriven?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

This thread will probably get moved to the mods section,but here goes...
First unscrew the cover.
then if you look down into the head end there are 4 tabs the hold the head on .These tabs are located on each side of the 2 battery springs.The flashlight is snapped together by these tabs engaging slots in the body of the flashlight.
You have to use 2 tiny screwdrivers to pry the tabs on one side of the light while carefully rocking the battery end back and forth and pulling on it.
This is a little tricky but be patient and it will come apart.
Be warned..the circuit board traces are very delicate and will stand only a couple or solderings before the traces come right off!!
To get the reflector off,you have to carefully melt the ends that hold it on the board.
I have not tried overdriving it as it seems the LED in there is driven pretty hard as it is.
I tried it with a red led (ran too hot )
A blue one worked fine .
An amber one was overdriven to the point of being orange and then fried );
there is a schematic kicking around on the web somewhere for this light.
Have fun
