I was at my local walmart yesterday, and the price tag for the hanging peg of Rebel flashlights was missing. They used to be about $15. I scanned one on a price checker thingy, and it came up as $7! Not bad, so I got one. I don't know if it's a regional change, or error in this store, but you may want to double check your local WM if you've been considering one.

You couldn't make the circuit and buy the LED for $7. Nice find.

Speaking of the Rebel- I was kind of curious about the handy-dandy little color filters that came with the light. Just checked them out with the light meter-

These figures really don't mean a lot, because the sensitivity of the meter is no doubt maximized for white or yellowish white light-

But anyway, Here are the readings I got. The first figure is the LUX reading from one meter and the second is the LUX reading with the light in contact with the sensor:

White: 127 - 11,500
Red: 11 - 850
Amber 57 - 4,780
Blue 37 - 2,900

This is with the energizer (2007 date code) AA alkalines that came with the light- they have about 20 minutes of use on them.

To the eye, there isn't that huge a difference in light level though

Mr. Stingmon who has some high class, expensive light measuring magic tools could provide more accurate and useful readings, and a learned explanation as to what and why and how on this subject.

You lucked out- Unless it was a local "Manager's Special" someone plugged the wrong price into the computer.

The one I bought yesterday at the Wal-Mart here was 14.96.

At $7.00 each, I'd have bought them all if they were not really just mis-priced.

Craig, I went out to Renton today to try to find the Brinkman Rebel; I didn't see it. Just he old Brinkman.

I bought one this weekend, & it to was $14.96. I found it handy that the filters fit the LX. You have to split a piece of 1/2" electrical tape (unles you have some 1/4") & put about 4 wraps on the end of the light. Probably best not leave the light on to long or you might get a meltdown on the filter.
