I am building a light similar to the one pictured below for hog hunting on our property. I have everything planned out and most of it ordered on in hand. I need help finding a photo cell similar to the one in the picture one. I've been searching and have not found anything suitable.

The light will be DC, still not sure if/how it effects the photocell. I will be using a similar housing as the one pictured with 1/2" threaded knockouts. If I have to make an adapter for the photocell that would be alright.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to CPF, XD1.

I don't see any photos there. Without them, it is difficult to envision what you have in mind.

DM51,

Thank you for the welcome.

I guess I got distracted and forgot to attach the picture....

If you put "img" tags round the url, it should work better. The format is {img}url{/img}, except with square brackets instead of curly ones. I'll try it with your pic now:

I'm still not clear on what that is, and what you are trying to do. Is it a static light which uses a photocell to switch on/off? What activates the photocell - failing light, or something breaking an IR or similar beam?

Maybe there are other members who have seen something like this and can help here.

DM51,

I'm wanting the photocell to activate the light at dusk and go off at dawn. It would be mounted in a fixed area powered by a battery bank and charged by a solar panel.

That's a more specialist type of item I don't know much about. Perhaps someone else can help. Aren't there security light units that switch on/off automatically like that? Maybe adapting one of those might be a solution.

BTW, you must have taken down the photo from wherever it was hosted - it doesn't seem to be there any more. You need to leave it there, as a copy is not stored on the CPF server.
