Where can I get a bright bulb for a 3-cell maglight other than what comes with it. I have seen some threads on this but forgot were. I do not care as much for the run time, but the brighter the better.

I think you'll find what you need here. This from the 2002 Radio Shack Catalog.

Byron-

If you want the best Xenon bulb for your 3-cell Maglite, go with the Xenon-Star bulbs made by Carley Mfg.

I think I have one 3-cell and a couple 2-cell Carley XS still available. click here for the listing in Buy/Sell/Trade.

I prefer the xenon bulb from Sears. Cheaper and easier to get. Better beam quality. And about the same color temp as the Carley.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Never tried Sears Xenon bulbs (didn't know they carried'em), so I can't comment. I will try'em now and test'em side-by-side.

Maglite beam quality with any bulb sucks as result of the crappy reflector, so I don't think I'd appreciate any qualitative difference there.

Overall I've been very happy with my Carley bulbs in my 2-cell and 3-cell Maglites (which now mostly gather dust)--as most of my Mags have been replaced with Surefire products...

I would use a KPR102 - 2.4 volt 0.8A overdriven at 3.6v with 3Ds. The bulb life is reduced so I keep an XPR103 Xenon bulb as the spare. The overdriven KPR102 is brighter and whiter than the Xenon, and the only drawback is less bulb life. I have used this setup with no problems however I am not sure if heat would be an issue if you had to keep your light on a long time.

Hey all, long time lurker - first time poster:

Does anyone know what the bulb rating is for the orig maglite 2D? Was looking for a brighter Xenon replacement, but in the land downunder it seems to be non existent, so Krypton will have to do.
