Butter and Bread and Sandwiches Oh My! (II)

brine ya poulttry
Ah yeah, but that takes planning.
I've read that you should allow your chicken to reach room temperature before cooking.
Mine usually goes from the refrigerator to the fryer.

Brining, or marinating takes time. I'm usually already hungry when I decide what I want to cook for dinner. I have read that brining is the way to go.

Keep it simple….

Clearance priced new york strips with onion salt and seasoning salt rub cooked on a kettle grill with about 20 charcoal briquetes allowed to be completely gray before placing the steaks on. The steaks had been out of the refrigerator about 15 minutes before cooking.

Cooked oven style at about 450 degrees

Meanwhile russet potato's were microwaved for 5 minutes then set on the grill to roast the skin.

Steaks were cooked 10 minutes per side.

Lid removed and fatty areas along the edges were allowed to catch fire.

Steaks and potatoes were removed, butter added to the potato's while the steaks rested for 10 minutes.

Georgia corn in the shuck was microwaved for 3 minutes. Once cooled shuck was removed.

Served with Dr Pepper for me and sweet tea for Mrs Fixer.

I've been watching "All up in my grill" now and then.

I haven't been cooking lately, but it is entertaining to watch.

Many think of crock-pot cooking for winter with soups and stews but it's also great for summer. No need to fire up a hot oven or cook on the stove. For easier cleanup spray the sides with non stick cooking spray.

Ribs, chicken, even cheap cuts of steak. Mrs Fixer used to cook turkey burgers covered with sliced potatos and cheese in the crock pot.

I saw one the other day where a cooler is used for cooking corn on the cob. Put your shucked corn in the cooler, add a pan of boiled water, close the lid, wait 30 minutes..... done. And if need be it keeps the corn warm for a few hours.

Basically yes it is a southern thing. At least the kind I was eating.

Finely ground hamburger mixed with a favorite sauce. Noodles boiled like normal. Mix together in a casserole dish and bake 20 minutes at 350 with foil covering the dish.
Remove from oven and cover with mozzerella, cheddar, parmesion or whatever cheese you prefer. Cook uncovered for 15 minutes.

Italian restaraunts serve it with or without cheese on top depending on the style of the particular owner.

i had dollr tree pudding it was pretty good tomorow im makeing pasta with mids pasta sauce which is my fav by far

Growing up, we used to make a quick casserole like that. Spaghetti noodles, ground steak/hamburger, some chopped veggies (brocolli, cauliflower, green beans, carrots, small onion), with a sauce, then a mix of mozarella/ricotta/parmesan cheese, then baked. With the right herbs and spices, it was a mainstain "comfort" food for us kids. Easy to make ahead of time, lasts for several meals.
