Butter and Bread and Sandwiches Oh My! (II)

I'm almost out of chocolate covered almonds. SO... I had the time and took a trip to Costco today.
While there I spied a two pound block of Kerry Gold Cheddar Cheese. I almost bought it but noted that it is 110 calories for a one ounce serving. I figured that I would probably eat about four ounces 440 calories each time I decide to take it out of the refrigerator, and I'd couple it with 100 calories of Ritz crackers, and how ever many calories are in a glass of wine or bottle of beer. Nah... I put the cheese back.

So while on my way to get the chocolate covered almonds, I picked these up too. :)

The raisins are 190 calories for 25 pieces, and the almonds are 160 calories in 11 pieces.

I did good, right?

@Poppy, When you exercise restraint while at the grocery store, that's the only time you'll need to do so before returning.

Something else that helps is to never eat from the container. 😁
LOL, I have a Whole Foods, one traffic light away, a shop rite, and Stop and Shop, only four lights away, and a Costco and Aldi each within 3 miles.
Last week, I drove to Shop-rite just for a half gallon of ice cream.

Oh... I don't eat directly from the container, I usually take fistfuls out of the container, and put them into the cover. I then refill as necessary. :)

Mrs Fixer doesn't dig on fish. I do. So while she is hanging out with her mom I ate her portion for dinner.

Cooked in a teflon saute' pan in melted butter with some fresh cracked black peppercorn for a bit of added flavor. The butter had been allowed to overcook slightly prior to adding the fish.

Add some corn along with Fiji spring water and a quick, tastey, nutritious meal was enjoyed.

The for desert about a dozen pieces of honey rich candy corn. 14 pieces equals about 100 calories. Hadn't seen these in years and they taste as good as I remembered they used to.

20 years ago, my best friend and I could easily polish off an Outback Steakhouse Bloomin' Onion by ourselves! Nowadays, I eat four slivers and get massive heart-burn. Today, TUMS is a snack option for me. Never used it when I was a much younger man.

"I double dog dare ya!" was popular, growing up.

These days, I'm like you. Particularly with oh-so-tasty chili dogs. Yum ... but, dang.
HA! The picture was of our youngest son's dinner. After eating all three he had to lie down on the floor. I only ate two which was just right. It's not a matter of self-control. I just don't stuff myself any longer.

Two boneless/skinless chicken thighs soaked for 24 hours in a watered down bbq sauce then once good and roasted, they were coated with the sauce to carmelize.
Also a russet potato was nuked for 6 minutes then also roasted on the charcoal grill. Yummy yummy.

I'm loving that you are taking the time to smell the roses on your day off.
It takes extra effort to cook on charcoal when propane is available.

With charcoal you can multi-task. While the coal are getting started in the chimney you have about 15 minutes so I finished folding laundry and put that away. Then dump the coals into the grill and preheat it 5 or so minutes. The potato cooked in the microwave. Boneless thighs cook fairly quickly. So about 20 minutes later everything was ready.

My 2 burner gas grill sits idle a lot lately. I bought that for cooking steaks and pork chops a few years back and it still has the initial tank of fuel. I bought that for my wife's son to cook on when he came over but he died so it rarely gets used anymore. If it's hot outside and I want a pork chop or a steak that one gets the call. Walk outside, puts the start button, go back in and prep the food, go put it on the grill, go back inside and prep the sides, go back out and grab the done food, after flipping it once. Wait until dark and clean the grates.

Now once Fall arrives I'll slow cook chicken or a loin on the charcoal grill. Stuff like that. It sits over a fire barrel while in use. Once cooking is done the fire barrel receives the remaining coals to start junk mail and other kindling in order to burn sticks and such from a pile that came down in storms. That's a smell the roses day there.

Smokey supper

80/20 ground beef creates lots of melting fat smoke while not shrinking too badly like 73/27 does.
Gwaltney great big dogs on the side with wavy Lays chip and a 12oz glass bottle of Frostie root beer.

American sharp sliced cheese on the burgers. The wife puts a thin coat of ketchup on hers. Me, like it came off the grill.

Chance and Mr. fixer, your food looks great!
Yesterday our Elks lodge had a member appreciation day, burgers and dogs, mac and cheese, and a variety of salads and dips. I helped with the set up and was challenged with cleaning the grill and clearing the holes in the burners, all eight of them. Fortunately I had a pair of nitrile gloves in my tool box.

On that 2 foot by 5 foot grill, one can cook a lot of stuff at the same time. Sorry no pictures.

I love the fact that you can get them in such large packs. Over here it's 150 gram packs if you're lucky. Maybe it's meant to be "good" for us.
