I've been requesting comparsions of the above, but no one seems to have a review. So after much waiting, I managed to compare them myself.
Firstly, A BIG THANKS to Wayne of LPS for helping provide some equipment for me. You're a cool guy, Wayne.
I already owned the C3 with the LPS SRTH turbohead, and i was wondering if i should upgrade to the M3/M3T combination. That's what prompted my interest in the comparison.
I like to mention that this is only a subjective review based upon my not-very-good eyes ( i did wear my prescription eyes to be sure) and the eyes of one other person.
C3 vs M3:
The C3 is shorter and smaller than the M3.
I was surprised it's almost an inch shorter.
I guess what everyone wants to know is the light beam. As far as the bright white beam is concerned, i would say the M3 is only very marginally brighter. Its beam is oval, so it is bigger in that sense. The entire beam (by that, i mean the far other edges of the beam where the light is really really faint) of the C3 is wider than that of the M3. Probably because of the smaller bezel of the C3. So it's mostly whether you prefer a oval beam (which is bigger) or a rounder one.
M3T vs LPS SRC3 (C3 with SRTH turbohead):
I was expecting the M3T to blow the SRC3
away, but i was surprised by the result.
I had the HOLA lamp in the M3T and the N2
in the SRC3. As far as my eyes can tell, the beam intensity is about the same. I had both lights shone on a garage door and the intensity looked the same to me. The beam of the M3T is wider and diffuses out gradually while the beam of the SRC3 is very focused and abrupt. That is the hotspot of the SRC3 is much well-defined. The throw of both seems about the same. Note that I was using the HOLA on the M3T which only has a burn time of 20 minutes as opposed to 60 min for the N2 on the SRC3.
The M3 is about $200. The turbohead to
convert to M3T is about $140.
C3 is about $90. LPS SRTH is about $110.
