I've been requesting comparsions of the above, but no one seems to have a review. So after much waiting, I managed to compare them myself.

Firstly, A BIG THANKS to Wayne of LPS for helping provide some equipment for me. You're a cool guy, Wayne.

I already owned the C3 with the LPS SRTH turbohead, and i was wondering if i should upgrade to the M3/M3T combination. That's what prompted my interest in the comparison.

I like to mention that this is only a subjective review based upon my not-very-good eyes ( i did wear my prescription eyes to be sure) and the eyes of one other person.

C3 vs M3:
The C3 is shorter and smaller than the M3.
I was surprised it's almost an inch shorter.
I guess what everyone wants to know is the light beam. As far as the bright white beam is concerned, i would say the M3 is only very marginally brighter. Its beam is oval, so it is bigger in that sense. The entire beam (by that, i mean the far other edges of the beam where the light is really really faint) of the C3 is wider than that of the M3. Probably because of the smaller bezel of the C3. So it's mostly whether you prefer a oval beam (which is bigger) or a rounder one.

M3T vs LPS SRC3 (C3 with SRTH turbohead):
I was expecting the M3T to blow the SRC3
away, but i was surprised by the result.
I had the HOLA lamp in the M3T and the N2
in the SRC3. As far as my eyes can tell, the beam intensity is about the same. I had both lights shone on a garage door and the intensity looked the same to me. The beam of the M3T is wider and diffuses out gradually while the beam of the SRC3 is very focused and abrupt. That is the hotspot of the SRC3 is much well-defined. The throw of both seems about the same. Note that I was using the HOLA on the M3T which only has a burn time of 20 minutes as opposed to 60 min for the N2 on the SRC3.

The M3 is about $200. The turbohead to
convert to M3T is about $140.

C3 is about $90. LPS SRTH is about $110.

These comparisions have been done before!

The M3 v 9P/C3/D3/Z3 is comparing the MN10/11 to the P90/91

The M3T v KT2/12PM TurboHead/SRTH is comparing the MN15/16 to the N2.

Swap the MN16 to the SRTH/KT and the N2 to the M3T.

I would find it very hard to tell the TurboHeads apart. My 12PM TurboHead gives beams a strange outer edge though.
What I can tell apart is lamps.
You were perhaps expecting a far more intense light from the MN16 compared to the N2? The Lumen output gives us an impression of the beam size.

As for prices... The M3/T are the top of the range. Why the M3/T costs extra has been covered before.

Whether you need the M3/T features is another matter!

Comparing lamp-assemblies is NOT the same as comparing the flashlights. The bezel (the head) makes a big difference.

We swapped the MN16 from the M3T into the LPS SRC3, and the light was terrible. It appears the the N2 is the best choice for the SRTH turbohead. I think Brightnorm can agree to that too.

About the length of C3 vs M3, I think if you change the normal bezel of the C3 to a SIS M2 bezel with pyrex lens it will make the two just about the same.

How does the N2 look like in the M3T?

The N2 looks fantastic in the M3T.

I think I'll get a couple LPS SRTH's.

You see, my experience with the N2, MN15 & MN16 is based on only having four Pyrex KT4's, six Lexan KT4's, one 12PM Bezel & one 3" T Turbo.

I think that in order to get a better impression of the beams and TurboHeads, I need atleast another 3"(T5 if I can get it), a 12ZM & two SRTH's.

I mean, I have five MN16's, four MN15's, and three N2 lamps I can use right now. That's a good base for comparisions. I'll get a few more N2 lamps.

It is not beyond possibility that the SRTH really does use a different shape reflector compared to eveything else I've seen. But right now, from my perspective, it's also not beyond possibility that it's just natural variations in lamps and reflectors.

If the SRTH really is suitable for only the N2... That would be strange - but then it's a strange part to begin with! Can anyone tell me how the N1, N5, MN60, MN61 & N62 look in the SRTH please?

I've heard that Wayne is a great guy. I'll be getting a couple of his TurboHeads shortly.

Thanks

Al
