I have been using OpTech Classic straps for my SLR cameras. These are Neoprene and conform comfortably to my neck or shoulder. I had used the straps that came with the camera, like the Canon or Nikon nylon straps, but they cut into my skin.

Anyone else have favorites?

+1 on OpTech. I had the original on my film SLR, so when I finally went digital in 05, it was time for a new OpTech. A bright red Classic Strap with Pro Loop upgrade.

For the small Point&Shoot cameras, I think the web coil tether with 1/4"x20 swivel is one of the best gizmos I ever came up with. I also use a web coil tether as a neck strap on my Subal housing when I am in the water or sitting on a ski.

For land use, I have been using the supplied straps from Nikon but with clips added. I think I will look into the OpTech mentioned because I certainly appreciate the neoprene VS stiff webbing & rubber skid pad or what ever else you might call the shoulder piece.

I got mine through the mail from B & H Photo in New York City..

I've used the OpTech but found it to make heavy cameras bounce around when running around.
I like the thin 'pro' straps from Nikon best. Non slip and confortable unlike the thick ones that come boxed with the camera.
These are now retailed (I think), but remember when straps with the NPS logo used to fetch outrageous prices on internet auctions and second hand stores in Japan.
I saw the ugly blue/yellow strap for the D1 sell for about US$1,700 initially after its release

another vote for the Op-Tech Pro loop strap.
i really like it, just the right length for me, although my strap is a custom screenprinted one, from the canon digital forum "POTN"
i have one on my canon 1dmk2n, and a spare that my wife had on her 40d, although now she uses a Crumpler industry disgrace, the industry disgrace is very nice as a neckstrap, but i find it feels a little odd when used to sling the camera over your shoulder (which i do regularly)

Not to side track the thread, but what strap should I use on my 6kg lens with camera body attached? It is quite heavy to carry by hand as I have done to date.

Didn't the lens come with its own strap and attachment points?

Thanks, the Canon strap should work fine with the lens on the compatibility list: Canon EF400 f/2.8L USM lens old version.

Not a cheap strap, but worth it if it meens not dropping it.
