Can a true 5mW powered green laser shine the dot 200 yards in daylight?

Just curious if a green laser pointer with a "true" 5mW of power be able to push the dot out to say,200-plus yards on a dull day, with no sun? If not,how much power is needed? Thanks,Hot Brass

Shouldn't be a probably with the dot if it's overcast. I wouldn't expect it to during full sunlight though.

I'm pretty sure I've used both of mine visibly at over that distance in moderate daylight. In very direct sunlight, 50 yards is about it. I dunno about whether mine are true <5MW though. Once is older style NC star, and works well, the other is a much more expensive sightmark At5G.

I'd say that the pulsating green pistol laser my cousin has is more visible than either despite much smaller form factor.

They are all way better than any red laser.

Absolutely. I was playing around with mine the other day and as long as the dot is in the shade, you can see it. I'm guessing it was 1/4mi away. The seller said it was "5mW" but I'm guessing it's quite a bit higher.

I forgot to mention. The NC star one is kinda nicer, and seems to be one of the few that survive shotgun recoil, even compared to many at the >$250 price point. It came with a blurry outer protective in the screw cap. I made a new one from a plastic microscope slide and got a much cleaner dot out of the thing. The clear CD on a stack of blank Cds works well enough for this too. One thing if you are planning to mount on a firearm with some significant recoil: inline batteries tend to get hammered in and stop making good contact while they have lots of charge left. I keep one battery for the range, and another for the bedside. I wish someone would make a solid compact reasonably high quality pulsing green laser for ~$75 using a transverse mounted CR123. One big momentary switch on the back and a clicky switch on the side, with a place to plug in a remote tape switch would suit me.
