I remember reading somewhere on the forum... a guy had replaced a rev clicky Solarforce switch with a Fenix fwd clicky switch. So I ordered the Fenix switch and obviously, my technical knowledge and abilities falls far short of my naive ambitions... I tried dropping the Fenix into the Solarforce tailcap and it's not working. Anyone have any suggestions on this?

Solarforce uses the same internal diameter and pitch threading as surefire. Unfortunately the tailcaps are just a tiny bit different. If you find a surefire c/p/m standard body switch and it doesnt work, it's because the tube is not long enough to meet the contact surface of the switch. All you need to do is cut the switch body shorter (ugly and messy) lengthen the body tube of the solarforce (not going to happen) or come up with a shim to make up the difference. A bent piece of metal that stays in the switch body can be enough to complete the circuit.

Now, that being said send me your solarforce switch and I'll upgrade it to a forward clicky for you. Shoot me a PM and we'll work out the details.

Carbine.... thanks for the reply. Actually, I want to retain all the Solarforce host components (head, tube, tailcap) because it's one of the new L2m's with a nice golden/grey color and the complete host itself is a really well done host. I just want to install a good fwd clickie switch mechanism inside the Solarforce tailcap. Is that something you can do? That would be great!

yes it is. Send me your whole tailcap and I'll mod it for forward clicky just like I did mine. Or if you'd prefer I'll give you instructions on how to mod your own as well as the forward clicky switch to do it.
You'd need a soldering iron, desoldering braid, needlenose pliars, a knife to cut the rubber boot to fit the new switch mechanism, switch itself.

Carbine, if you don't mined, could you post the instructions? I have an L2M on the way now and I may consider making the change. I have or can get everything you listed except where do I get the new switch?

Do you mod these switches using the forward clickies from KD? I wanted to order some to try out.. but I can't seem to order from KD right now.. their whole stupid account login system doesn't seem to be working... and hasn't for a few weeks.

A lot of folks have been reporting login issues, but I logged on last night and ordered some stuff without a problem.
