Ok I need some help here guys. My cordless phone battery is only lasting like 2-5 mins max now so I know I need to get a new battery soon.

I have a Uniden corded w/ answering machine with cordless portable unit.

The cordless unit model is ECX510, Input DC 9v @ 210mA
The main unit well I can't get the model number now as someone is using the phone there.

The battery model is BT-905, DC 3.6 @ 600mA, NICAD, bi-wire two pin connection.

I have seen 1000mA models but they cost like ~$30 CDN and I have a bunch of NIMH cells around. I was thinking of making my own battery pack using a 3xAA cell holder as I'm not comfortable soldering batteries (fear of explosion).

My question to all is can a NICAD charger charge NIMH and are there any ill or dangerous issues here? I have a Maha C-9000 charger which I use for my NIMH but it would be nice if I can get the cordless phone to charge the NIMH.

Thanks in advance.

Usually they will because most phone chargers are trickle chargers, if the phone says it needs to be on the charger for many hours then its probably a trickle charger.
The downside is NiMh don't like to be trickle charged like nicad and it will shorten their lifespan.
