I'd like to get a better idea of the size. A picture of a LS w/o next to a quarter or dime would be great. One without optics (just the emiter?) would be nice also. I'm the guy who couldn't believe how small the Arc AAA was when I got one in my hand. So make a good perspective if possible. Thanks in advance.

I have some pics on my mods pages - take a look. The optics are the same diameter as a US nickel, which acts as a nearly perfect template for drawing cut-out circles on reflectors for the Luxeon to fit through.

Here is a picture of the LS w/O connected to a SF123A battery.

I have some pictures of the emitter only in a 2 AA mini-mag lite on my website.

Wow! That's pretty nice!!

Just curious, which DC-DC converter are you using? What is the run time? I am very interested to see how good it is with 123 batt.

Thanks,

Ake

Jeff1500,

May I ask you who your supplyer is? And do you pay extra for the heat sink?

I made a LS flashlight using a heat sink looks like yours.

This is a picture from PK's Surefire Luxeon prototype page.

The LS photos are a link I found. That's not me.

I made this:

The max757 dip works very well, probably with just about any kind of battery. I tested it with one or two Nimh or alkalines. I always got the same output voltage.

I'm going to study surface mount stuff for a while and then make some other contraption. I like dimmers, no hot spots in the beam, and two batteries.
