I'm an absolute novice and own a Solarforce L2. I want the same size flashlight but with maximum throw. Can I achieve this with just adding a better reflector and led or is there better to be had by purchasing a new model. I only want a single mode due to the task I'll be using it for.
Thanks

Hey dude, I've already recommended you some drop ins and batteries in your other topic...

To maximize throw in a P60 size head, you need to look at the LED with the smallest footprint and the highest surface brightness. At this point, that is the Cree XR-E r2. There are several drop ins out there with this LED but I recommend Nailbender's. He is a member of the community here and he has an ongoing sales thread in the B/S/T section.

In addition, if you really want to up the throw, you can opt to put an aspheric lens kit in your light. Member Ahorton sells great kits that I can verify work with the Solarforce L2.

If that's not enough throw, yo'll have to move to a light with a bigger head..

Cheers!

Yeah that's appreciated thanks. Just wondered if there was anything better. Plus maybe an excuse to buy a new toy.
Wasn't ignoring what you'd said just didn't want to limit the potential
Cheers

As I said in your other topic...
Why start a new thread with same question? As if you didn't get any answers?

For maximum throw, you could always put a SolarForce Masterpiece Pro-1 turbo head on your L2. Won't be the "same size light" because the head is large, but you could use your existing body and tailcap.
Otherwise, go with the aforementioned XR-E. Plenty of throw for most uses.

Hehe that's 82,5mm head, with a big head like that you could just as well buy the trustfire X6 with SST-90 and 2250 lumens instead of 275 lumen R2 :O

Didn't mean to offend anyone..... Just exploring all options. Plus I read a review on a several flashlights using the same led and battery. All gave different performance.

Well do you want a new flashlight with insane throw;
look up trustfire x6/olight sr90 beamshots.

If you want to maintain your current setup;
go for the Cree XR-E R2 drop-in.
